Welcome to 5th Grade

I am so excited to be teaching fifth grade.  We are going to have a fantastic year!   This will be a year of, “more”.   Math becomes even more challenging, language arts more in depth, and social studies and science more interesting.  I am full of energy and assure you that creating engaging lessons will be my top priority.

I firmly believe that an organized student is more prepared and ready to learn, so we will be spending some time on classroom and homework procedures.  Homework has been assigned for tonight, and will be assigned for Monday through Thursday throughout the school year.  Each student has a blue homework folder that is to be brought to school daily.  They are required to copy all assignments from the board on to their Homework Log.  Please check your child’s homework log nightly, and after their work has been completed initial where indicated.

Please read the school packet.  We need both the double-sided yellow Emergency Card and the School Pledge/Compact filled out, signed, and returned as soon as possible.  Just return any applicable documents with your child’s homework folder tomorrow.

Mark your calendars for our Back to School Night on August 17th.  We will have two sessions; either come from 6:00-6:40, or 6:50-7:30.  I look forward to meeting all of you wonderful parents and sharing the fifth grade curriculum with you.

I will be communicating primarily through emails.  Therefore, if you do not check your email regularly please let me know so I can print any messages for you.  There is one last thing, I need a few parent helpers, so if you’re interested please call or email me.   I can be reached at, or by phone through the school office 770-8816 ext 1483.   2016/2017 is going to be an awesome year!
